Prior to any trip I take, I scout the local restaurant scene in search of the best places to eat and write home about. Literally. At the top of many lists is Talung Thai, a Thai restaurant based in the luxurious Paresa Resort. With breathtaking views atop of Kamala Cliffs, delicious authentic Thai cuisine in lush green surroundings; I was sold and arranged a booking right away (- a month prior, who says I am not organised?).
We arrived on a balmy Wednesday evening with a warm welcome. We descended the stairs and opened the huge doors (suitably known as the doors to heaven of which the word Paresa derives from); to witness panoramic views of the Andaman sea and the surrounding island.
After being wowed by the views, we took the elevator up one floor and was greeted at Talung Thai. Upon entrance is an impressive shiny wine and champagne display. We were led through the beautiful restaurant… hard wooden floors, tables impeccably presented before the restaurant opened out into an open deck for dining.
We started with the assortment of Thai appetisers to share which included crispy parcels, spring rolls, mixed skewered beef, pork & chicken, crispy noodle prawns (Tung Tong, Po Piah Sod, Satay Ruam Mit, Goong Sarong). The appetisers tasted as wonderful as this looks; the flavours and mixture of the textures blended together wonderfully.
This was accompanied by an Apple Martini (strongly recommend) and a beer for the dude 🙂
As the grey skies turned a beautiful pink, we enjoyed four sharing dishes under the most romantic setting. Warm minced pork with cilantro, chilli and toasted rice crumbs, wok stir fried mixed vegetable with garlic and oyster sauce, char grilled beef salad with red onion, fresh chilli and Chinese celery and wok friend rice with prawns.
The food tasted incredible; again the variety in textures and flavours – plus just enough spice for me to handle, perfection. The food was not pretentious but each dish was exquisite. The char grilled beef salad was definitely our favourite!
I’ve dine in a number of restaurants with beautiful views; but sometimes I find that the food falls short however I can honestly say that our dining experience at Talung Thai, is one of my favourites. The menu is well thought out (I would like to thank the mastermind behind the menu), the food tastes and looks incredible, the service is flawless and most definitely the location makes this a very special place.
So much so, we came back again for lunch the next day …
To some up our experience; heavenly
