Hello 2015 and Happy New Year/Chinese New Year to you! Each year I like to make a few New Year’s Resolutions to make a positive change to my lifestyle and myself. These self promises help you to keep focused and try new things in order to achieve your goals and aspirations.Traditionally I sum up how my previous year went and make 3 main New Year’s Resolutions – with a few mini ones here and there for good measure : )
Updated : So, from the 1st January – 18th February, was the practise run of carrying out these new year’s resolutions and to be honest, so far I haven’t done too badly. In all honesty, I take my new year’s resolutions more seriously on Chinese New Year as it eases you into the new year a little later and it’s another great way to celebrate new beginnings if your year hasn’t started off just how would like.
Love my Blog.
I thought this would be the perfect time to start taking my blog a little more seriously this 2015. I did a few posts here and there whether it was music or food related last year but never really maintained it….Bad. Looking back I found that when I went on a restaurant visit I never really spoke about myself and you didn’t get to know me. I don’t know about you but when I read blogs, I want to hear about the whole experience. I want to get to know the person behind the blog from what they are wearing, their likes and dislikes, sharing glimpses of their personal life – not only reading yet another restaurant review or discussing a place/destination they are visiting. It makes it impersonal and I want to change that in 2015.
So to improve my blog, I treated her to a little makeover towards the end of last year/early this year to encourage me to write more and show her off. I have also made a pretty punchy target of posting 3 times per week – ideally every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Finally to not be afraid to talk about myself and my experiences more. I would like for you to get to know me so I will try to introduce myself to you through photography or write-ups in my future posts.
I still aim to post 3 times per week, I have seen the light and organised my posts through the power of scheduling. I am working on posting about different types of content too in order for you to get to know me better including fashion, style, home interiors, living in London and travels.
O apprendre le Français. I have booked myself up for lessons from now until Summer so I don’t really have an excuse. I think the language is just beautiful. All my favourite movies are in French, I adore the pastries, people close to me speak the language and I find that French girls are just so effortlessly cool. It’s an endless love.
I am still attending my French lessons. I am watching a lot of cookery shows and comedies in French, I also have my language settings on my iPhone and Macbook set to French to help accelerate my learning.
Be Confident & Believe In Yourself.
Now this has been a New Year’s Resolution for some years now and clearly I have not quite mastered it just yet. I am forever self critical, I don’t take compliments very well and at times I can be annoyingly shy which I really want to combat this year. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to be arrogant. I want to feel confident in my decisions, appearance and opinions because self doubting takes a lot of time and living in one of the busiest cities in the world where time goes so quickly I have wasted a lot of it.
I believe blogging this year will help me achieve CONFIDENCE. I find that most bloggers are confident, if not confident I think you are incredibly brave and you should be proud of what you are achieving. You are exposing yourself and sharing your life experiences on an online platform which is open to opinion of others and I am in awe of that. I’ll be honest I have sat here on my sofa and have re-written this post 7 times, gone through 2 cappuccinos and 1 green tea because I wasn’t confident on what I was posting originally. I want to get to a stage where I will write a post in 10 minutes flat and be confident to hit publish.
This is an ongoing battle but actually, I have found I have become a little more confident with my blog entries recently. I took a few photography courses and now know how to work the camera. I do a lot more research on the topics I am posting thus feel confident that the content I am posting is correct. I have noticed that I have received a lot of love from restaurants who have supported my posts, with really kind comments including Chotto Matte, La Bodega Negra, Duke on the Green and Megans. In addition, I must continue to be completely honest in my posts – if I don’t like something I will call it out and if I am in love, well you will know about it 🙂 It’s about being genuine and true to yourself which I hope is portrayed through my entries.
I have a few mini New Year’s Resolutions which are mostly answered in this questionnaire I found online :
A bad habit I’m going to break:
I curse a lot so maybe that. Sadly, I’m not a lady yet.
A destination I’d like to visit:
Venice. Booked for April.
I’m going to work harder at:
Improving my style. I am forever in leather/black and I don’t own a motorbike…Yet. My style is still influenced by Edward Scissorhands… I don’t see this changing anytime soon, perhaps in spring/summer.
A project I’d like to finish:
Decorating my London flat. In progress, blog post arriving soon !
A class I’d like to take:
French and Spanish. French is continuing and I signed up to Intermediate Spanish last weekend.
I’d like to spend more time doing:
Creating delicious recipes and sharing them with you and organising myself better. Working progress and shared a few already!
A food I want to eat more of:
Drink more Matcha green tea – my friend Dom introduced this to me and says that one glass of matcha is the equivalent of 10 glasses of green tea in terms of its nutritional value and antioxidant content. Gimme that! One huge tick and two cups everyday :)!
I want to wear more:
Hats. At least once a week.
