JAK’S KINGS ROAD

My sister, Chelsea came to visit me in London yesterday for a long-overdue catch up. We don’t usually meet up regularly like we used to. Communication is now Facetime which involves a lot of our time getting her cute little bulldog to do tricks. I decided to take her to one of my main hang-outs, Jak’s Kings Road. It’s a cool – anything goes,  kinda place and 9 times out of 10 my first choice for almost anytime or any occasion in London whether it’s a night out with friends or cosying down in one of the sofa chairs with my Macbook and a cup of Cappuccino.

This wonderful place is all a lounge, Mediterranean restaurant and lively bar, with a real ‘buzzy night-out, good vibe’ atmosphere at the weekends. This large venue space is made up of several rooms serving different needs.

First and foremost there is a spacious restaurant with a combination of long tables with mismatched chairs to leather sofas with large rectangular metal tables. The food, well… there is so much to choose from and the food choices are inspired by fresh, local produce, healthy eating and all the delicious flavours of the Mediterranean.  It’s a deli-counter serving copious dishes of homemade, delicious comfort food including lasagne, lamb shank and chicken brochette. They have an impressive selection of seafood dishes as well including seafood paella, halibut and fish pie. You finish off by selecting from a countless array of sides or salad options that’s oh so fresh.

How it usually works is you go up to the deli-counter select your main; meat/fish/vegetarian option and select two sides/salads and you return to your table where you are served. The problem with this is, if you are like me it can take you an age to decide on anything. They also have a menu where they make fresh pizzas straight from the pizza oven, bellissima!

By the way, the desserts will put a smile on anybody’s face. During the day you are served the likes of cheesecakes and black forest gateaus however in the evenings, they pull out the big guns and serve cakes slices that are almost as big as your head and I’m not kidding ! Here’s a photo from a previous night out for your reference :

The next room is a large bar and cinema room showing black and white movies during the day with large comfy couches (however when the football is on, these movies are traded in for the beautiful game). This area at night and mostly during the weekend, turns into one of Chelsea’s top night out hotspots with a cool bar area, playing great music with a really nice crowd. I will have to take you along for the ride next time I go ! There is also a private area with it’s own bar at the rear of the venue which is great for hosting celebrations.
The interior throughout is rustic, artistic and well lived in making you feel welcome as soon as you enter. There’s wooden floors and ceilings, cheeky framed photos on the walls, a fireplace and candles on the tables for that homely country house feel. It’s pretty quirky too with the humorous art displayed almost everywhere.
Enough talking, here’s a little tour of my 2nd home :

I had such a great day with my sister, I really miss her and I’m happy I introduced her to one of my favourite places. We went during the day which was a little quieter but gave me the opportunity to take some venue shots and we were able to catch up properly over a few juices/coffees and cake. Next time I’m there on a night out, I’m taking you to the party with me 😉 Deal?

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend x
