Pizza East Shoreditch Review
PIZZA. I mean is there anything more satisfying, more delicious, comforting, heavenly, euphoric than pizza. Yes I am over the top but this is what was whizzing through my mind last Sunday after visiting this east end pizza joint.
After the London Marathon last Sunday, Tori took me to Pizza East. Part of the Soho House Group, Pizza East is a collection of pizza restaurants in London, US and Europe. In a former tea warehouse on the corner of Shoreditch High Street and Bethnal Green Road, Pizza East Shoreditch serves wood oven pizzas, fresh antipasti and daily-changing specials.

Thick wooden tables, wooden stools, chairs and sharing benches, exposed brick – this industrial looking restaurant boasts charm and style. What I love about it is the exposed kitchen area where you can see two huge wood ovens and the chefs freshly preparing each pizza.
After being out all day, we decided to F the diet and enjoy some real comfort food so we started off with the Mac & Cheese to share.
Looks good doesn’t she? This tasted wonderful, full of flavour with a crisp top and a creamy filling. Sometimes with this simple dish, that the top is just tasty and the bottom part loses its flavour however not this one – this really hit the mark and I loved it.
Following that and not being too shy at all, we went for 2 pizzas…..
Aubergine, smoked mozzarella, pesto, basil (far back) the pesto and the basil really brought out the freshness of the pizza which gave it that light feeling. Delicious. We also opted for the Salami, tomato, mozzarella, chilli flakes. A bit too much chilli flakes for my pathetic pallet (I’m such a little wimp when it comes to spice!) but tasted great, with just the right amount of salami.
I would absolutely recommend giving this place a visit. I tend to steer away from visiting chain restaurants however I’ve heard so many lovely reviews and I’m happy I came. The pizzas are reasonably priced from £8 – £14 with a great selection of toppings. The total bill came to £60 which included drinks, two pizzas, olives with almonds and mac & cheese which I think is great value! In terms of the service, spot on. The staff were incredibly friendly and we didn’t feel we waited too long before each course was served.
Oh and of course, if you are ever to come by don’t forget to stop by the photo booth downstairs. We couldn’t resist a duck face 🙂
Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it – Confucius
